As the name suggests, a direct to film printer allows you to print a design onto a film and then it can transfer directly to its intended surface, such as fabric. One of the main reasons why this print technology is gaining traction is the freedom that it gives you to choose almost any surface for printing!
You can easily print easily onto cotton, polyester, synthetic, or silk without any trouble. Plus, with these new printers they can work on both dark and white fabric without any need to press on expensive A & B paper.
A Direct to film printer uses PET films as these are different from the ones used in screen printing. PET films have a thickness of approximately 0.75mm, making them better-transferring characteristics. These films are also known as DTF Transfer Films in the market.
